***April 25***
For those of you with presentation based projects (ie replay analysis or new strategy proposal) if you have not signed up yet, you must present on thursday. All the May presentation slots have been taken already.

For those of you with a final project involving a build order or replay analysis. Make sure you sign up for a presentation date: May 7th or May 14th. 3 of the 5 May 14th slots have already been taken and the rest are on the 7th of May.
Your projects are indeed due on the day of your presentation.
Alternately, if you do not feel comfortable standing up in front of the class to speak, you may make a Youtube video instead; during your presentation block, we will watch your video with full sound on the big screen.
Finally, for those of you with theory or calculations, your post on teamliquid.net is due at 7pm on May 14th.
Good luck. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.

Brief summary of this past week:
Flux calculations; 3 derivations
Army Movement by Lore
Lab; UCB vs UCI: Victory!

It has come to my attention that we have not went over the concept of Flux in class yet, but one question on the homework requires it. You can skip that problem on the homework and leave it for the week after. The rest of the problems look possible. For Starcraft fans following the class on-line, we will have lecture 3 available ready to post soon. Please have patience. Thanks.

Yeah so I've been a little lazy not putting an update till now. . . This week's class was awesome, but unfortunately not recorded =(. I'll give a brief summary of what happend. Last classe's topic was Units. Unit combinations were shown such as the ones in the VODs section (btw week 1 vod is up there too).
Hopefully this coming week Alan's camcorder will arrive so then I can start recording =D and editing! If it DOES come the vid should be up no later than before the end of next week (same goes for forums).

To everyone who came to class last Thursday, I'm very excited at our turn-out for the class last Thursday, and I have some good news. Most if not all of the people who wanted to get into the class will. We almost exactly hit our cap of 62. However, through my fault, my most grievous fault, I lost the notecards that everyone worked so hard on and turned in. I honestly searched for like four hours, turning my apartment upside down looking for them, but really really can't find them.
The good thing is, I did read through most of them before misplacing them, so I have a good idea what level and math everyone is in. Also, I read through all the reasons why people wanted to join the class, so that's all pretty set.
So, if everyone will please send an email to starcraftdecal@gmail.com with:
your name
your year in school
SID
I'll gladly respond with your CCN's and CEC's.
Once again, I must apologize most profusely for losing everyone's cards; on the upshot, the cards were actually your first practical quiz; since it was my fault that I lost them, everyone gets full credit for theirs.
Always, most humbly yours,
-- Alan Feng
P.S. on a separate note, homework is still due.
Hint: For the first question, note what commonly-seen units are *missing*. That is the bulk of what I want you to see or get out of that replay. I know the end is corrupt, but it doesn't affect most of it.
Note: For the second question, pick ONE of the listed tech branches. For example, if you picked protoss gateway, you would explore all the units, attributes, stats, and other traits of zealots, dragoons, high templar, dark templar, archons and dark archons. So, explore everything that your building produces. If you decide to choose "building," then explore the defensive structures (sunk/spore/turret/bunker/cannon) and nexus/hatch/CC and worker unit.
P.P.S. Don't forget to turn in two replays. For those of you who went to lab, you should have no problem finding your two.

There was crushing, there was explosions, there was lots of blue blood! The first ever Game Theory with Application to Starcraft Lab was a very huge success. The turnout was average, but the games were off the charts! I myself, was lucky to play against a couple people and win and lose and win (gg alyaly/zalfor). The funniest thing is, we were playing with only 6 outlets, so sometimes we'd have to trade some charger spots. For those that came to the lab, I sure got my more than two reps for the homework.
For next week, those of you who aren't able to come can always join us in channel Cal on TheAbyss server (ICCUP).
Secondly, as for the forums, I'm working on them still. The content, is more on Lecturer Feng's part. As for the website itself, I received some feedback requesting it be changed to not so neony and to have a white background and black text. I do however plan to add some translation for those of you English illiterates, so check back today or tommorow!
Well those are my two cents for today, I have other engagements tonight! GL HF!

Great first class! I certainly enjoyed it and I hope all of you did too.
Many thanks to all of you who attended! And a special thanks to Pete Hottelet for the tasty, yet energizing Brawndo and the Gamepro guys (sorry, please email me your names!) for recording the first ever class!
I plan on having an FAQs up tommorow that should answer the majority of questions Professor Feng has been receiving, so check back soon! I will start working on the forums tommorow and hope to see great activity there too(feedback on the class/site)! Take note in the banner, I spent a while getting the text to be all Starcrafty =D. For all feedback about the site please email me @ hushbird123@gmail.com
That is all!

Thanks for all the interest from around the globe; your questions will be answered soon.
As far as auditing is concerned, you are free to audit the course. There are 120 seats in the lecture hall, and unofficially, we can fill all of them. Officially, we are limited to 60 seats, so when we actually get there we can make the decision how to go on.
For those of you at home, not in Berkeley, or unable to take the class for one reason or another I will be webcasting the lectures if possible. So, don't feel left out. You can do the homework and listen to lecture in the comfort and serenity of your own desk.
Finally, about the text, I will not be publishing it on-line because of the possible mistakes in it. However, it can be available for people who request, mistakes and all, for a printing fee plus shipping. Finally, I would like to say, what an honor it is for all of you to join us on this adventure, a new era in gaming where gaming and gamers are taken as seriously and rigorously as anyone else. See you all Thursday.

Enormous thanks to our webmaster, c0de. He has made a website for us, where you can find lecture videos, schedule, and ultimately, your homework too. You can visit the site here:

From now until February 20th, I shall post updates on both facebook and the website. After the 21st of February I'll cease posting on facebook and move entirely to the website.

I got the course control numbers, but it's kinda complicated, so I think we'll just deal with it the first day of class. In addition to CCN's, you all need personal CEC's, and I have to go request those if we go over 10 freshmen and sophomores.
Due to the huge influx of people asking for readers, here's how to get one:
1. Come to my house when I'm home. (If you want to go that route, I expect you to know where I live already. I'm not giving out my address on-line.)
2. Get them at 7pm on Jan 22 in C230 Haas. That is the first Thursday, but not the first day of class. I'll be there for the whole time, though. Come meet me, or play a game or something
3. Get them on the first day of class. 7-9 pm Jan 29 C230 Haas

Since this is the first time this class has been taught, the materials are still a little rough.
Thus, I have decided to purchase your Readers for you. Just e-mail me for your copy, free of charge. This offer only applies to people who are actually in the class. Sorry, Piedmont High.
In return, if the people who receive Readers can review them and submit changes and points that need clarification, that would be great.
Also, I wouldn't object to people kicking in a few bucks towards the Readers themselves. However, due to the constraints of a DeCal, I cannot officially ask for them ... so I won't.
The day and time remain
Thursdays from 7-9pm C230 Cheit Haas School of Business Discussion/Lab/Office Hours: 1st Floor of Moffit Library Saturday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
I shall be giving out CCN's on the first day of class. I do not yet have a website for it yet; for the meantime, I shall be coordinating events through email and facebook.
The first class will be on the 29th of January. I will of course be in C230 on Jan 22nd from 7-9pm if anyone wants to meet me or talk to me. If anyone has any friends who enjoy Starcraft, I would most welcome their presence.
I would like to add that this class is dedicated to Yosh, Lore, Phillip, Gheiiiiiii, Restitute, and everyone who ever taught me or inspired me to be better than I am. I owe you all for your love and patience.
